Enjoy Your Life

Hello all you awesome stampers. Shanna here with a quick art journal page. I used some of my gelli printed sheets I made using my gelli plate. I really love how this turned out and it was quick!

First I laid down a trimmed piece of gelli print paper and some book paper I had left over.

Then I stamped Banksy Alfred Hitchcock Birds down with some black ink. I then stamps on some extra paper the Banksy Enjoy Life and Tag stamps. I cut out the tag, hole punched it, and added some string. Fun right?? I love grant I can use this tag as an actual tag!

I added some black stabilo pencil and water to give the book page and edge. Some teal splatter to the background for a little more interest. Glued the tag down and called it an art journal page!

I hope you loved my quick journal page. It really doesn't take much to have a little fun!

Mixed Media Tag Tutorial by Susanne

Hi there!

Susanne here today with a mixed media step by step tutorial. I created a mixed media tag with lot of texture.

Here are the step by step instructions:

1. Draw a simple flower and add Crackle Paste. Add some stamping after the paste is dry.

 2. Mix white and gold liquid acrylics and add a thin layer to the tag.

 3. Use acrylic paint to color the flower. Let it dry.

 4. Add DecoArt media Antiquing Cream, wait until it's dry and wipe it off. Add some more stamping to the background.

 5. Add some shadows with a black Gelato. Add some additional color with Oil Pastels to the flower.

 6. Add white paint splatters and a black border with an Oil Pastel to finish the tag.

Enjoy recreating you own flower.
xx Susanne.

Mail Art Monday with Michele

It's mail art Monday!!!  The last one for June and we are half way through the year...OMG time is FLYING!!

I have a quick tutorial on stamping AND masking your envie.

I started by stamping some images on my envelope. I always use archival ink.

Then I stamp the same images on book pages and cut them out.  I also used a scrap bit of paper to cut a rectangle for the address.  These are placed on top of the stamped images on the envelope and the rectangle is in between.  This is by FAR my most favorite technique and I use it ALL.OF.THE.TIME!

Then I used Distress Ink, broken china and stormy seas for my background colors.

Of course some water spritzing to add that look of well, water.

Some coloring, doodling and a bit more stamping and VIOLA!!

Of course I couldn't leave the back of the envie alone!!!

A couple of detail photos.

AND I was on a roll so here is another one.

And a close up.

This bumble bee is one of my favorite bug stamps.

And there you have it...another mail art Monday in the books.
Until next time...get inky!

Food !

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blogpost today ! I have made a trio of ATC's to inspire you with and I hope you'll pick up your stamps and make something too !

And here's how I made them:

I started with a gelli print. This is a mop up page.

I cut the page into three ATC's. There were some small pieces left which I will keep to use as collage material in another project.

Next I added some stamping. I used VersaMark and WOW embossing powder and also Archival Ink in the colour Watering Can.

I stamped all the images on book paper with Archival Ink. I always use the edges of the pages for the sentiments I am going to use. That way they have the same colour as the images. Next task is to cut everyone out.

Having a look where I am going to place everything.

And here is the finished result.

I hope you enjoyed this short tutorial.

I have used the following stamps:

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Learning To Love Purple

Hello VLVS! peeps, Fiona here with you today and I have a little video to share of an art journal page I created.

I'm learning to love purple because for some unknown reason my brain keeps making me use it in my art!!!

I have never been a big fan of the colour but it just keeps creeping in to my creations. In all reality I think I am learning to like it.

And I paired it up with green and pink so it doesn't over power the piece. I tried something different this time in my journal too. I stamped first!

I mean I stamped in between too but I began the process with some background stamping. Anyway you can see it all in the video.

Here is a link

I am totally enjoying exploring with different colours and different stamping techniques in my art journal. I feel i'm really starting to develop a style. I hope you feel inspired to get your VLV stamps out and have a little play in your journal too xx

There is a universe inside you - notecard by Cheetarah

Hi all! It's Cheetarah here and I am sharing a note card I made with some lush Cat Kerr designs for VLVS! as the focal point. This card was fairly simple put together, it's stamped all on one layer and has a fun and bright effect due to the background stamp and perfect pearl sprays I used.

So I first stamped the Girl's face, masked it off and then stamped Expanding rays silhouette background over the masked face with a mixture of yellow and orange memento dewdrop inks.
The stamped some bits of the Squiggly stars and numbers here and there for some texture.
When the mask was still on I sprayed some perfect pearls kiwi glimmer mist over it for a sunshine effect for the rays. I then took the mask off, made sure the card was dry and colored the face with some letraset pro-markers.

Lastly I stamped the sentiment under the face, matted the card on a light blue cardstock (blue skies) and called it done!
